Lets have a conversation

Hey, blogs are supposed to be a two way street. We need more audience participation. I seem to have a lot of readers but very few comments.

Let me throw this out to the boating people or people who know the Chesapeake area:

Can you suggest good spots to go for a week at a time? Good anchorages? Good marinas? Good hurricane holes?

What about the heat and insects, is it worse than Florida?

What do you think about going on the outside (ocean) vs. the inside (Intracoastal Waterway).

Comments, please!

New sailtrack

Finally got it installed. Can go sailing again.
Now if I can only get around to fixing the multitude of other things that are broken.
My ToDo list is getting out of hand.

Filler

Now that we’re not sailing, since I want to keep this blog active, I’ll have to come up with some filler. I hope it won’t be as inane as most Twitter tweets. Here goes:

I wasn’t happy taking photos with my bulky Canon S3 IS. It’s amazing what has happened to cameras over the past few years. I just bought an Olympus Stylus 7030 for $92. It fits in a shirt pocket and takes better photos than my old camera. It’s 14 Megapixels, compared to the 6 on my Canon. Can’t wait for our next trip so I can make good use of it.

Profound statement

“It’s better to be ashore wishing you were at sea, than at sea wishing you were ashore”.

Sailtrack

As mentioned in a previous post, the sailtrack (the slit at the back of the mast that holds the mainsail to the mast) pulled away from the mast near the top.

Upon returning home it was felt that this was not safely repairable and I would need to have a new track installed.

Mack Sails (who made my mainsail) will be doing the job. We should be back in business in a week.

Revisions

As I’m new to the blogosphere I asked for some advice from a pro friend of mine. I’ve since made some changes including the title. I’d really appreciate some comments.

New Blog!

Unfortunately I did not have this blog during our last trip to the Bahamas. I did send out email updates to people I thought might be interested.

I will reproduce those emails here. Obviously if you’re not interested don’t read them.

Note the link to photos on the right side of page.

The following takes place between May 1, 2011 and June 3, 2011.
